Public Procurement Commission Hosts Successful Public Open Day in Region Two

Region Two, Guyana – March 19, 2026 – The Secretariat of the Public Procurement Commission successfully hosted its Public Open Day at the Regional Democratic Council Compound, engaging a total of 73 participants, including contractors, suppliers, consultants, business owners, and members of the general public.

Through meaningful engagement and information sharing, attendees were better equipped with knowledge on the processes that guide transparency, fairness, and accountability in public procurement.

Throughout the Open Day, participants engaged directly with representatives of the Secretariat of the Public Procurement Commission at information tables, where they accessed resources and received guidance on procurement procedures. The setting fostered open dialogue, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and gain clarity on participating in public procurement.

Key information shared included the role and functions of the Public Procurement Commission, an overview of the procurement process, tendering tips, compliance requirements, and the debarment process, all aimed at equipping contractors, suppliers, and business owners with the knowledge needed to participate effectively.

The Public Open Day forms part of the Secretariat’s ongoing outreach efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement and enhance public awareness of procurement practices across Guyana.

The Secretariat of the Public Procurement Commission remains committed to promoting an open, transparent, and accountable procurement system by bringing information directly to the people and fostering inclusive national participation.
